Completely agree. Her positive attitude is likely a testament to how she was raised. Like you said, she had the wisdom to know that when the bullies made fun of her, it had nothing to do with her--it was all their own insecurities. Vanessa was lucky that she had this friendship to fall back on...and I think a lot of kids who are victims of bullying would find the same thing if they were open to it. That's one thing my mom always taught her kids...if your friends aren't being nice, go find a friend who is nice. They're out there.
