I hate when movies use dim lighting to create a 'dark' mood

Yeah yeah yeah, the lack of lighting is supposed to convey a dark and depressing mood but it is a pet peeve of mine because it's so unrealistic. Most schools have bright fluorescent lighting. If you want to create a certain "mood" in a movie then focus on the actors. I also hate seeing dimly lit/dark hospitals in movies. Since when are hospitals like that in real life? In real life hospitals have bright lights just like schools.

I know right. I was thinking the same thing to myself while watching this movie, I was like why the crap is it so dark lol. I came on this board just to see if anyone else happened to notice it...

Totally agree!! They went WAY overboard with the lack of lighting. We were actually laughing because every scene at the school was just so incredibly dark! You'd think SOMEONE would have had the guts to tell the director that he was actually taking away from the realism by basically turning out the lights in a typical American high school. I wonder if he regrets it now?

Righttt. I was watching this with my mom and I was like, damn my high school cafeteria was bright as hell. Hahah.

LMAO i was noticing that too...it was so damn blue & dark in their cafeteria & everywhere they walked! xD in my school's there's freakin florescent lights everywhere lol i would have preferred this school's "lighting" xD
