Clooney deserved the Best Supporting Actor for THIS
I love Clooney for his charisma and his acting credentials and I love him for his talent in direction as well. But I am just wondering....why did he win an Oscar for Syriana? I mean, it was a great, great film and Clooney was pretty good. But sorry, he was not Oscar material. Matt Damon, Alexander Siddig and Jeffrey Wright were way, way better than him.
Now, look at GNAGL. Clooney not only did a fab job with direction and scripting but he also acted quite well as Fred Friendly. He was the optimistic, cheerful and supportive sidekick to David Straitharn's dark-edged, brooding hero. He played his part with equal doses of charm, humor, warmth and poignancy.
So, even if the Academy did not want George to win the Best Director trophy, they could have handed him a Supporting Actor prize for this? How about it?
