...just set up interment camps of humans, made them reproduce in captivity, then hook up the babies to "drainage machines" (or whatever) so they'd have a permanant supply of blood on hand?

The young wouldn't supply that much blood, but if there were enough of them, and they grew...

(I feel rather grim writing this scenario)

It was like man when they hunted other species to extinction. Everything was plentiful at first so they were using up the supply too fast until they realized what they doing. By then it was too late. One vampire quoted that the current blood supply was less than six months.
