its not good if it goes straight to dvd
awwww too bad.
shareJust off the top of my head, what about The Notebook?
Anyway, this isn't a great movie, but to say that just because it goes straight to video means it's not good is like saying that just because it plays in theaters first, it is good.
I mean, come on. An 8.0 IMDB rating to go along with a SAG for James Garner?
The Notebook was in the theatre. You make no sense.
shareThe Notebook made over $80 million BO and was in release for 150 days, so I don't understand how you could think it went straight to DVD.
shareThere have been a couple of good straight to DVD movies, but in general, yeah, straight to DVD movies blow.

Well, you know it is WORSE if it goes straight to VHS, and never onto DVD...
sharehmm let's see. "The Boondock Saints" and "Johnny Was" went straight to DVD? both really good movies! so that is just *beep* that statement.
shareif I remember correctly Darron Aronofsky's Pi and Requiem for a Dream were straight to video...not all straight to vids are bad, just the majority. Bottom's Up just sucks cuz Paris Hilton is a douche and the crew just made a lame movie.
shareBoth movies had limited theatrical releases.

u dumb shi t requiem for a dream went to theaters but not to mainstream theaters, it was in one of those independent theaters
shareGENERALLY
a reason for it going straight to dvd is that it isnt the best film
but other reasons can include independent film labels, foreign films, and limited funding, there are exceptions
but often the statement that it's not necessarily critically good because it's gone straight to dvd...is true (in opinion)
