Never tied up loose ends

A nice film, but at the end it left me with a few questions, because there was quite a bit of foreshadowing of elements that never happened.

Throughout the film I expected Atom to show signs of self awareness. When he catches the boy before he falls, when he surprisingly reacts when the boy shouts his name, when he looks at himself in the mirror when he is alone, etc...

Then there was the thing with the boy's age. There is a point in the film where Jackman asks him if he was sure that he is ELEVEN, because he had broken up with his girlfriend TEN years ago.

Did they just drop these plot lines on the cutting room floor or what? But why hint at it when you don't do it?

You are too simple to watch movies.

I too noticed the foreshadowing of things that never happened.

There was the moment where the kid was being held by Atom and said "Can you understand me? I'll keep your secret." And obviously Atom looking in the mirror was a very significant moment that never seemed to grow into anything.

Also the asian creator of Zeus – it felt like they were foreshadowing that he was the creator of Atom since it was mentioned he was a 'boy genius' and that he'd only recently come out of retirement. Plus the fact that both Zeus and Atom were implied to be AI robots.

But in the end none of these things amounted to anything, it's all very strange. But then again there were lots of problems with the film, like how the dead mother wasn't even mourned over in the slightest. Also, what happened with the kid's adoption status or relationship with his father at the end? It wasn't exactly clarified. On another note, those random guys who beat up the dad and the kid didn't seem to get any legal recourse for that; why were no other robots shown in society doing any other jobs, etc, etc, etc.

I guess these plot threads are saved for the sequel which is supposedly in development.
