I've only watched about 40 minutes into the film and I gotta say this is a first time in a long time where I found a very strong dislike for the main character.
I find him to be a cocky, stupid prick and find it hard to stand him. All the failures are because of his own fault every single time. Hopefully he gets better when I get back to it.
Is there no one else finding his character very dislikeable?
That's the WHOLE POINT OF THE FILM.

Watch the damn movie! Don't stop part way through to whine on the internet.
He's a jerk. Yes! The movie is about his story of becoming a better man, and redeeming himself in the eyes of his son and the other people he's cares about.
This is one of those movie where the protagonist goes from being a jerk to a decent man. This has been used over and over again in many movies.

That's the problem! He's too big a jerk, to the point where even when he trys to become decent, he is still annoying and jerkish!
He was a super jerk in the beginning, but I do think he redeemed himself by the end in a realistic way. Obviously he wasn't going to turn into a saint, but he definitely got better and endearing. Plus, he's ridiculously hot and it was interesting to see Hugh Jackman play someone who was such a tool in the beginning because he's probably the nicest guy in Hollywood! lol.
