They Gave Credit Where Credit Was Due
The producers gave credit to Richard Matheson for his short story, "Steel" which became an episode of the Twilight Zone with Lee Marvin. Most producers just rip off ideas and call them their own.

shareBut they didn't give any credit to Sylvester Stallone whose films (Over the Top and the Rocky movies) they shamelessly ripped off!
Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!
it has an "Over the top" feeling to it, that's all. similar plot parts: trucking dad with long lost song + fighting. calling it a ripoff is ridiculous. rocky? because of boxing??? wtf?

Hugh Jackman gave Rocky credit during interviews.
shareYeah except that it's nothing like Over the Top except for the fact that it's about a father and son getting to know each other. In Over the Top, the dad wants to be a part of his son's life but his former father in law wouldn't allow it. In this movie, the father doesn't even know the son exists until he is practically dropped on his doorstep.
It does have a lot in common with Rocky though, I will give you that, but this is hardly the first movie to take the themes from Rocky.
