Until the final credits appeared, I thought the lead actress was Kate Beckinsale! Anybody else who misread the face?

Not me, but I've always compared Evangeline Lilly to Kate Beckinsale. They're my #1 and #2 (KB, then EL, then everyone else)

At first I thought it was Kate, but after 5 seconds I realized it was Evangeline.

I watched the film the other night. Though I didn't mistake Evangeline Lilly with Kate Beckinsale, I do see how you got the idea. In other news, when I first saw stills of "The Desolation of Smaug", I initially thought it was Jessica Biel who played Tauriel and not Evangeline.

Kate and Evangaline Lilly should not be compared, ever. Kate is on a whole different level.

I made the same mistake! In some scenes she looks exactly like Beckinsale.
