I dont dislike alice, i just think she is stealing the spotlight from the other characters. I love the films but every film gears away from the resident evil game plots. i think they should focus more on the games aswell as I think they focused too much on the action in resi 5 and not the horror or scariness (if thats a wors). I dont know why its an 18 either.
I don't think create Alice as the 'icon' is a bad idea, before i say this you must know that i also the fan of the game series and like it lots. Well as i said Alice is the point to start this story, she is infected with t virus which make her stronger or mutant so i think it just fine to create her to be an icon for Resident Evil movie, this is Action Horror movie and not a Survival Horror like the games,Alice gives a lots of action in these movies and make it different to another 'zombie B movie'. Come on,just shoot and shoot like in the games and no action at all?? Must be same as the other crap zombie's movie,as we know Alice is stronger because the virus and make her special, she can kick, punch and a lot of other action which is make this movie special and success! The game is the game, the movie is the movie. The movie has a strong story about t virus!
so she's flat, who cares? good on her for taking pride in herself the way she is and not rushing out to get DD cups. she is a breath of fresh air in a world full of women who don't know when to stop.

"i like alice i think she is a very deep character" - Rani_Senka
She was deep in the first movie and the last movie, but Apocalypse was kinda whacked. She had a little bit of roundness to her, but for the most part, in the second movie, she was as flat as her...well, you know.
Yes Alice needs to be killed off. Okay these are movies called Resident Evil. They need to feel like Resident Evil. The difference between RE and normal zombie flicks is that RE not only has zombies but it has other mutated species or super mutations like Lickers or Hunters.
RE's tone has always been that of normal humans who face super abnormal freaks created by the T-Virus...not some Infected Super Hero running around drop kicking monsters left and right. It would be okay for a character to kick a zombie once in awhile but when Alice's scenes(many of them) are all about roundhouse kicks to zombies...it becomes lame. Plus I didn't know that all it takes was a throat slash from a knife to stop a zombie as seen in Extinction. If that was the case...there was no way in hell that zombies took over the world if it only took knife cuts to kill them.
When Alice was shown to beat the Nemesis down with her bare hands it was downright retarded and I left the theater.
I agree with Hmongsta86. The addition of Alice is why these movies are only going to be average at best. It seems, long gone are the days where we get human charecters doing only what an actual humans can do. I have a theory on this.
It's because Hollywood forgot how to write. What we get here is the proto-typical super hero lead written in more for over the top action pop. Forgotten in all this is the suspense and story. This is how it works now. Invent a super hero lead. Chreate a bit of a back story around them. Reviel information on them little by little(This way you don't need much in the way of charecter and it will cover up plot holes). Then hit them with over the top action that will make them go whoa. Slap the Resident Evil label on it and bank for three movies. Did I forget anything?
I'm not saying these movies are bad, just something to eat popcorn in front of.
Yeah totaly, it's not like a character in the games stopped a boulder by punching it, or that characters flip[ping around kicking zombies and the like either (hint: they have been since well before your post).
I've never really played the games, I don't think the movies have that much to do with them. The films are all about alice, with elements from the games tossed in as she goes along her journey.
If you want movies more faithful to the game series, you'd have to hope for a reboot. good luck :)

Even if you hate Uwe Boll, give Postal a try, be offended or entertained.
Isn't Alice what Umbrella was trying to create all along? Not a brainless mutant but a superhuman being which she is. It seems she IS the story. Killing her off would only mean complete failure and the story would end or have to start over.
In the first movie and second Alice was like a female version of Albert Wesker (From the games, not that guy sitting having meetings in this movie) He had speed, power intelligence, the works. But Alice is *beep* up beyond belief, i mean come on. Creating a barrier around Carlos to prevent the Flame Thrower from burning him to a crisp... Yeah, right.
She's just becoming ridicolous, what's next, she's gonna create her own universe?
Alice should have never been included in the original script for any of the films to begin with. If you are going to make a movie entitled Resident Evil, then at least respect the damn source material.
The first Resident Evil movie should have had Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine as the main characters. The second Resident Evil movie should have had Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy as the main characters. The third Resident Evil movie should have had Jill Valentine and Carlos Olivera as the main characters. The fourth Resident Evil should have had Chris Redfield and Claire Redfield as the main characters.
And so on and so forth.

It's kinda sad that mostly every movie based off of a game is NEVER close to the game, Silent Hill was pretty damn good but it was a mother not a father. The first movie was good but RE2 could've been like REC or Quarantine, they didn't have to put herbs and gems in it but it still could've respectful to the game. Alice wasn't in ANY of the games but she is the MAIN character in all of the movies. I liked all the films but RE1 is my favorite before Alice became nearly invincible, LOL! Her beating up Nemesis bare handed was just too much for some. I remember some people booing in the theater.
"I am the ultimate badass, you do not wanna `*beep*` wit' me!" Hudson in Aliens.
that b!tch is the director wife...did u expect something different ? She did not want any true RE character to be the leading role...she told that to anderson after actors started to get their script...she is a real b!tch and i dont give a fck if ppl love here....she is a crappy B-actress,except the fifth element everything else she did was crap...and on that film she was good cause her mouth was shut all the time.
this movie series isn't about alice... its about MILLA JOVOVICH! If she didn't sign for a second or fifth movie, the movie franchise won't have a second or fifth.
I haven't played the game and I dont care how far the "alice" character have drifted from the original game series. Im just glad that they make a series of movies with zombies and a kick-ass sexy beautiful woman with on/off superhuman powers.
Anybody that like Alice and are fans of the game need to get there brains checked
Anybody who never played the game and like Alice... then i may understand.
But Alice is a disgrace to the resident evil name, a disgrace to a great video game serie, CHRIS REDFIELD and JILL VALENTINE are the true heroes of RE, even before Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Those should had been in the first movie along Wesker as the vilain, not that Wesker wannabe rip off that i don't even recall the name
Alice is the worst character of all time, she need to die in the last movie. Chris/Jill are RE !!!
Sry buddy but leon s kennedy is the star of the RE franchise since he appeared in RE2
go check ANY worldwide polls about who is the most popular RE character...you will see leon 1st in all of them with ADA and jill second and third places
