A more realistic review (for those of you who haven't seen it and might)
Many of you are wondering how the sex is like in the movie, and whether or not this movie is worth the rental or purchase primarily for the sex scenes. This is the audience that I'm speaking to for this review.
So here's the lowdown.
Sex scenes: 3/10. Lack of build up, the scenes themselves aren't very sexy, and look almost painful, compared to the original where there's elements of tension, some sense of erotic dynamic to them. But these sex scenes were poorly shot, and poorly choreographed. They're not a good reason to see the movie. Now for the nudity(non-sex) parts of the movie - again, not measuring up to the original as well. They're much more overt, and doesn't give the viewer a voyeuristic rush - remember when Michael Douglas snuck a peek Sharon Stone changing via the mirror? In this movie I'm not spoiling it for anyone when I say the main actor gets his groove on with Sharon Stone. But I will say this: The scene was just terribly done. It lacked steam. If I rated this movie on it's own merits - not comparing it to any other movie for the sexual content - it still falls down. The camera work just doesn't lend itself to a erotic display of flesh and build-up - which is crucial to a good sex scene. This movie doesn't do it.
Bottom line this is not a movie that you would watch for the sex scenes. The first movie maybe, but this one - hell no. Yes they did cut out a lot of the extra sex scene material from the DVD - but you could do a search on that and find them. Unfortunately even the footage which was cut out falls flat as well. Even if you were to piece the entire movie together - with the cut out sex scenes - it doesn't add up.
Unfortunately not a sexy movie overall. I'm not gonna say anything about Sharon Stone's age or anything like the other posters here - it doesn't matter whether she's 14 younger - even if she was - it wouldn't have saved the movie.
So there you have it. There are very good reasons why this movie bombed at the box movie, and I'm sad to say that this is one of them.
