Does it have the small changed bit in the third episode as broadcast early this year rather than the original broadcast?

"...the small changed bit in the third episode as broadcast early this year rather than the original broadcast".

Do you know what bit was changed? I taped the whole thing, from the first broadcast of this masterful documentary on BBC2, and it would be good to know if I have something that won't be shown again. Or maybe it's something additional to what was shown the first time?

It was additional - might have replaced something else but nothing very consequential. It was very short, only about 30 seconds, towards the end of the episode (the concluding "paragraphs") and is probably only of much interest to those in the UK. It was about the British Law Lords' ruling in December last year that Al Qaeda does not "threaten the life of the nation" and therefore the terrorism countermeasures the government were imposing (detention without charge) were not justified. "Whether we would survive Hitler hung in the balance, but there is no doubt that we shall survive Al-Qaeda."

Have the London bombings changed this sentiment?

Wouldn't have thought so. They were pretty insignificant, compared to, say, the daily carnage on the roads, or in Iraq. Hardly "threatening the life of the nation". Except in as much as they spur the politicians to attempt a power grab. That's the real danger.

Come on Kevmo. Be a Systems Thinker. The U.S. markets plummeted after 9/11. When things like this happen, economies of the effected countries begin to struggle. It could also prevent patrons from using the tubes an thus cause cut backs in the public transit sector. It can also hurt the tourism industry. If people feel there may be a risk, they'll go elsewhere.

Im not saying any of those things will happen. But thats what they mean by "A threat to the nation." It may not mean the fall of the British Government, but it could certainly effect a great deal of its people.
