The invention of a new "cold" war, global conflict.
The use of religious overtones and religious vocabulary in ideology and politics (axis of evil, satan...). The hiding of actual ideology behind simple scapegoats or ill defined enemies (terrorists). The use and construction of new (and old) myths that can define us and them.
It seem to be better/easier to rule by fear than knowledge. It is what mainstream economics brought the world. Politicians have devalued and deflated politics in the name of strict market economy. Ideologies are only for the powerful these days. Consumption for the rest of us. Neo-conservatives rule the world. Democracy is over. Please revive Keynes someone. (Nah, its too late anyway, I guess.)
