If you read the Wikipedia (not the most reliable source I know) page for this film it suggests that Fox was, at the least hard to work with. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

Foxx is an a-hole in real life. I can imagine he is a pain in the a-s during movie shootings.
sharei had a professor in college who said he knew someone who worked on the set of miami vice. according to my professor, the friend told him that foxx left the set one day because colin farrell was given a new suit for shooting at some point and foxx was not (and that foxx had to be convinced over the phone to return to work).
and supposedly the ending of the movie had to be reworked to take place in florida because foxx refused to return to (not sure which country) south america where the ending was supposed to be filmed. i believe when they were previously there there were gunshots fired near the set and foxx felt in danger.

That's amazing, considering that Foxx gave MM the idea to make a Miami Vice movie.
He first mentioned it during "Ali" 's wrap party. Before they even shot "Collateral" together.
I was inclined to think they were friends...
That being said, Foxx was no movie star back then but, two years before Miami Vice came out, he won an Oscar for "Ray". Actors turn into prima donnas, after they win the holy statue.

They must still be friends, because they did The Kingdom together after, but I think it's unfair that it got swept under the rug that he was a giant douche on set. We got a sub-par film because of his diva antics.

Imagine some lowtime actor coming up to you in a party and convincing you to remake a tv show you had done 20 years ago and then when you're finally on set, the same guy is being a little bitch to everyone.
I would have been pissed. He also demanded top billing..Colin Farrell is pretty much in every second of the film and foxx's is a side kick in comparison but oh no, he did a ray charles impersonation that won loads of awards, so lets give him anything the diva wants.
No one here can give you a truthful answer. Just second hand gossip stuff we've read on websites/ and "insiders" saying who acted which way. Which you always have to take with a huge grain of salt.
