Garrett Hedlund's shocking acting choice (spoiler):

This was not a great movie by a long shot.

BUT, the scene where Jack gets shot. He is screaming, hysterical, crying and calling "Bobby!! BOBBY!!!" over and over. This may seem a minor observation, but it really is significant in it's vulnerability. ESPECIALLY compared to what we've been anesthetized to in movies. Usually (if not always) and especially in "macho" movies like this one, when someone gets shot, they yell in anger. They howl in pain. They curse. What you don't see is wailing a loved one's name while shrieking, spitting and hyper-ventilating. THAT is the response I would think is much closer to reality.

I don't know if Singleton gets the credit for that but I wanna give the kudos to Hedlund; he's become an interesting actor.

Anyone else notice this?

Jack was an interesting character in a movie that is underrated for its depth. Yeah, its a grimy, gun-totin' gangsta thriller revenge shoot/punch flick, but it's realistic in alot of ways. Im a fan of this movie and Jack in particular is a great character as he's the youngest, quietest, most vulnerable, etc. His death scene, well, it clears him out of the way so the principal actors of Mark, Andre, and Tyrese can get the remaining screen time, definitely reaches out to the audience.

4 Bro's (I wish my brother was as dedicated as quartet in 4B's): 3.5//5 stars

It was a brilliant death. Felt very raw and real and ugly. I will give credit to Singleton for conceiving of it and Hedlund for executing it so well.

Expiration dates are mere suggestions! Like late fees and traffic lights.

I don't think we would have seen that reaction had it been any of the other characters getting shot, like someone else has said, he was the younger and more vulnerable brother and was always treated like the weakest/baby of the family... They always get him to wait somewhere more safe whilst they get into shoot-outs/fights and I think his reaction is just a product of that.. He felt like the baby of the family and he was calling out for his big brother to save him

I think this is a great movie. I own it and pretty much watch it whenever it's on cable too. This character was the saddest in my opinion. Screaming Bobby Bobby slays me every time.
