So why did they trust Sweet's Henchmen
It seems like a pretty big gamble to assume that Sweet's crew was going to go along with the plan to bump him off for a one-time payout.

shareYeah no doubt. But I always figured it was because he's been such a meanie to them and their families that they were ready to take him out. Especially since Bobby is known as a bad-ass so they just seemed to bet on him more than Sweet. I mean, if there is a chance for a good amount of money and the jerk that I have for a boss to be taken out (if he was that bad), then yeah I think I'd go for it.
shareThe part where they're waiting on Sweet and Jeremiah asks in the car "What do we do now?" I was like "He should already know dont they already have a plan?"
shareBobby was a bad-ass, but he always kept his part of any bargain.
You don't have to stand tall, but you have to stand up!
Sweet was a raging A-hole who treated his men like dirt, ruled by intimidation and (by the sound of it) didn't pay them what they were worth (or what they thought they were worth). It was only a matter of time before someone offered them a better deal.
The deal in question wasn't just a one-time payout - it was also a chance to get rid of a guy who would have been a misery to work for (I mean, what can you say when your boss tells you to your face that he's going to send you out of town and then screw your wife while you're gone?) and put someone better in place. His 2IC was clearly the ambitious type, and saw it as a chance to seize the throne without doing the deed himself.
The money was just the gravy.
Yep, as mrazorz has said, why would they defend someone who treats them so badly and humiliates them? He made one of them eat his dinner off the floor and another sit on the children's table.. They all knew he wasn't all that tough and wouldn't be able to win a fight without them behind him. They had the offer of money plus better prospects from Bobby... A bit of support to get rid of the awful boss they wanted rid of anyway
shareI just finished watching this movie again and speaking of the guy that got sent to the children table did Victor Sweet kill him? I know he asked for the pistol but they didn't show whether he killed him or not. I assuming they did I didn't see him with the crew towards the end.
When I first watched this movie I was confused but after watching this for a second time I got the movie and picked up on somethings I missed out, but I'm glad in the end the crew turned on Victor Sweet he did treat his people like dirt.
i am pretty sure that bobby was basically taking over the crew...
maybe leading them to more legitimate enterprises (like his brothers condo company), but taking it over from sweet none the less.
basically the cash was an incentive to switch sides.
It was clear Sweet treated his henchmen like crap so the seed was planted that he would be betrayed.
Its that man again!!
In reality they would have turned on him themselves long before. Mob culture has shown that mere ambition can turn you against the 'Boss'.
There's a moral to this story Del Boy but for the life of me I can't find it!
