I couldn't have been Evan's wife, having to scramble and run whenever Victor came around, watching my husband being mistreated and taking it like a punk. Eating off the floor, no way. I mean what could he really do? He wasn't ever strapped, Evan was always holding the pistol. Shoot his evil *ss Evan!

It reminds me of 'A Bronx Tale' when Sonny, the mob boss, tells the kid something like 'you don't go too soft on your guys or they'll take advantage but you can't be too hard on them either because you'll give them nothing to lose'. Victor Sweet's boys would have had him in a hole long before the Mercer's put it into their heads!

Evan was one of those idiot "goons" that never understood "time and place" and usually ended up being a liability. Any fool knows, when the boss has something to say, put the fork down and at least ACT like you're paying attention!
