just realized if simo reached chester before the cops then he'd be dead

chester sinclair would have killed him. chester had invited simo over but as he was doing this his wife was already dead at that point. I always assumed he was calling simo like one would call a therapist as a last call after committing a murder for help or something but now I see by chester's tone when he last speaks with simo saying "you and you're whore were...". sounds like he was angry with simo and would have popped simo right when he got there or atleast right after giving him some weird pointless speech. he's really lucky the cops got to him first.

This movie is an old favorite of mine.

Surprisingly, I never really thought of that angle but I think you're right. I guess I always assumed that Sinclair called Simo after he had done the deed (i.e., murdered his wife) but I never gave it much thought what his plans were beyond that, especially for Simo.

I always assumed that Simo took the issue so personally because he was stringing Sinclair along for a buck, and his actions caused the death of Sinclair's wife, albeit, indirectly. However, assuming that Simo realized Sinclair was going to off him as well...yeah, pretty messed up.
