Don't get me wrong I like this film and watched it again after years yesterday but what was the reason for making it?

To tell us about his life and times, I hope. I was 10 when he died, and never knew the complexities of his life. I enjoyed the movie, too.

The reason for making this film was to make money, of course. This is the reason why films are made.

There has always been mystery about the end of certain celebrities. . . George Reeves and Marilyn Monroe, etc. In a (sick) way it keeps their memory alive.
