Cigarettes in EVERY scene
Seriously, enough with the smoking already.
shareEven the cigarettes are smoking cigarettes.
shareIt's the 50's. Until the 80's/90's there was smoking everywhere, even at McDonald's!
Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble hawked cigarettes on TV long before "Pebbles" cereal was a thing, by the way.

And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
And they were ADULTS
shareyou know how today 4 out of 5 doctors recommend this or that..? there was a time in the not too distant past where they were doing the same with certain brands of cigarettes over others..
Welcome to the El Flamingo, Jeffrey!
Don't piss in the pool, Jeffrey.
You can find those old ads online, with doctors claiming that the sponsor's brand won't irritate your throat, etc.

That's simply the way it was back then...
Even into the mid-late 90's. It's just been a recent thing about smoking awareness.
Don't try to view history through today's eyes...it simply won't work...
I don't act...I react. John Wayne
Seriously, get over it. It was portraying the '50s...over half the population smoked. It's like griping about everyone drinking in "Mad Men" or whining about snorting coke in "Blow". It's part of the setting and contributes to the reality of the movie. Sorry that it ruined the movie for you.
shareWell said. In fact, definitively well said!
shareThis viewer has absolutely no sympathy for the numbskull OP. Was he expecting everybody to be carrying around bottled water? This country USED to be "the land of the free and the home of the brave. Now it is, take away all my freedoms Government just please protect me from THE TERRORISTS and you can't frickin' smoke anywhere even though it's legal. Cosmopolitan Europe laughs at our barbaric imitation of a functional society and don't even get this citizen started on censorship and repressed sexuality.
shareridge-m-1, Please tell us about censorship and repressed sexuality. You make it sound interesting.
shareHow old are you? Grow up.
shareI've heard American Soldiers use to receive a cigarette with their rations... Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner. Be grateful you don't get a cigarette with your meal! I understand that the cigarettes were able to be used as a form of currency. But we all know, most just smoked them.
Submarines back then must have been real hell holes, with soldiers smoking in those sealed sardine cans, especially with all your buddies smoking in their bunks right next to yours while you are trying to sleep. Forget smelling your food, or counting sheep... That's one smelly cigarette, two smelly cigarettes, three smelly cigarettes... I also seem to recall, bathing on submarines did not happen everyday either... One smelly uniform, two smelly uniforms, three smelly uniforms.
Everyone smoked back then, including most of your ancestors.
NEED I GO ON?
It is just a movie on your tv screen. Lighten up already!
I toured an early ICBM submarine and the tour guide showed us the cigarette ration every man got and told us about how infrequently they could bathe. I can only imagine the place was wretched smelling.
shareDid babies smoke? :) Even today, I agree, they do, in repressed areas and inbred redneck states..
