maybe the whole point of the movie was...

to see if we as viewers could forgive chris. yes, we saw Chris do a lot: he killed 3 people ( including the cop, which I am extremely disappointed about since he seemed like such a nice guy/had a kid on the way/ came into the bank to LOOK OUT for chris), and then he got off without any charges. so i think ultimately it kind of is up to us...do we turn a blind eye because of his disability or do we see his progress and deem him responsible for his actions?

just a thought.

He killed 3 people not including the cop... the couple in the accident and Bone. He also left Gary to die; if you want to count him and the cop (in a roundabout way, yes, he was responsible for for the officer's death) then that would be 5.

In reference to your post, though... yeah, that's an interesting concept. He was intent on robbing the bank and came out heroic (warning the cop, foiling the robbery and saving Lewis) even though he also allowed those things to occur in the first place.
