KC Location

Probably most of the people on here won't care but as a KC area local one thing this movie really got right was the setting. It's set in Kansas City, MO, though JGL's character works at a bank in some little Kansas town outside the city. (And rural KS really does look like that) This was filmed in Canada, not KC. But the filmmakers got a lot of little details right. The characters go to a bar called "The Quaff". There is a bar by that name downtown. What really amazed me is that they had a locally brewed beer called Boulevard on tap, complete with the Boulevard tap handles. The outdoor ice skating rink with the Mayor's Christmas tree also matches the Crown Center ice terrace that's set up during the winter. The Mayor's Christmas tree is located there. I know the writer/director Scott Frank spent some time in KC preparing the script, but some of that detail is pretty amazing.
