Did anyone notice what Chris loaded the shotgun with? I hope he used deer slugs because I can't imagine shot bringing down Bone permanently with a single shot. (And this movie did not appear to exaggerate the power of guns--I was happy to see that Bone did not go flying across the road.)
shareThrocko, at close range, say under 25 or so yards, there is no more devastating load than buckshot. From #1 through 00 buck, a one-shot-stop is pretty much the norm.

Even No. 9 birdshot would do the job. A load of it from a 12-gauge can chop down a 4-inch-diameter tree or blow a baseball-size hole through a car door. It's not like when Elmer Fudd shoots Bugs in the head and he's just sort of dazed and smudged. Chris was within 15 or 20 feet of Bone, so the damage probably would have been massive and fatal.
