I care. Good point.

reply

I got upset about that since they were kinda besties. Maybe, it just got left out for timing purposes. Or budget constraints.

reply

He doesn't acknowledge his existence in words, but he is clearly very upset about it as he's driving off in the car with the money in it. He screams and freaks out and cries and is very upset about it. How could you not have picked up on that?

reply

Wasn't the "First, I have to kill Bone" line supposed to mean that he cared about the cop, and wanted revenge for him? Or am I totally off? Because Bone shot him in the back, right?

Nothing is more reliable than a man whose loyalties can be bought with hard cash.

reply

I was also annoyed the cop, his widow and kid were not referenced at the end of the movie.

reply

The bone line was him trying to remember his plan to save Jeff Daniels.

And no, I was very annoyed with the ending. Everything turns out Millhouse for the two leads. No charges pressed, the respect of his dad and even a frakking restaurant thrown in for good measure. Not one mention of the cop without a face, I bet they didn't even offer his widow a waitressing job.

Why quote other people when I like the sound of my own voice?

reply

I agree, anf yes the ending was odd
What about his widow

reply

people these days need everything explained, omg, the main character cried a lot for his friend, and in the future you can assume he told his father about the mom, and she obviously receive a pension.

reply

It wasn't only his memory that was affected, his judgment was diminished as well as his control of emotions. You could argue the lead was targeted and taken advantage of specifically because of his mental illness.

reply

> I was also annoyed the cop, his widow and kid were not referenced at the end of the movie.

What needed to be said? The widow and the kid were sad, they got some insurance money, and life went on. That happens when anyone gets shot.

The perps were all dead so there is no one to convict and execute.

What else would you have liked to have known?

It just would have been nice to reference them for closure, tie up lose ends and round the film off instead of blatantly ignoring them.

reply

Again, that's not needed. I think we can safely assume that the normal stuff happened, like a funeral. And I'm sure that he remained dead for the near future.

Don't be cheeky

reply

Well. I still fail to understand exactly what kind of closure you are looking for. The man was shot and killed. That seems like closure to me, except for zombie movies, of course.

That happens in movies all the time without a big explanation needed at the end as to what happened to the character's family and friends and who was hired to replace the guy and what memorials the town erected for him and so on.

damn where are you from, there are bad cops everywhere but the majority of them are alright here in america.

reply

You're not in China by any chance are you?

reply

Yeah, I agree, people on these boards hardly seem to care. I care.

reply

The reason he wrote "Kill Bone First" wasn't to avenge the cop (Ted), it was because Bone was the most dangerous of the pair so it made sense to take him out first.

I agree that not enough was done (in fact nothing was done) to acknowledge Ted's death.

reply

That really destroyed what could be a great movie. Now it is just an average-pretty decest film with some strong quotes.

reply

Yes, that's how I read it. Take out the most dangerous and non wounded player - Bone.

A better acknowledgment could have been made of the cops sacrifice. When they are tidying everything up with a happy ending for Chris, some reference to another person that he had got killed would have been nice.

Just becuase they didn't put a scene with the cop's family doesn't mean no one cares... Is it really necessary to show his funeral or whatever..? There was no need to show a "conclusion" to the officer's story; the relationship and character depicted throughout the film before he was killed was more than enough to provide context for the character.
