I don't think we know enough about the "real" Casanova. This series was only loosely based on the man's life and I have not yet read his memoirs, but I would like to.
If you're asking whether I would like to have been born to a man like THIS Casanova? Absolutely. He was lively and intelligent, well traveled and quick-witted. Maybe he was a bit of a sex addict, but I'm willing to bet most fathers are.
I don't know... I mean, the way he treated his kid was kinda entertaining for a movie, but I think if I were his kid, I would have hated him. He might have treated a daughter better than a son though.

His kid DID hate him. I think ending the story where it did, in Naples, with Giacomo realising what he'd done to his son (turned him into a frakked up nutso) was effective; he realised what his life was. If I was his son I probably would have lost it too.

What is IIRC?
shareIIRC = If I Recall Correctly.
shareIf anyone is interested his original unexpurgated memoires contain a chapter called 'Incest A La Carte'. Some of it is linked below (sorry - not sure how to make the link clickable):
