Alpha Dog vs. Bully.

They are both based on real stories and are very similar sorta, but which do you prefer?

I liked Alpha Dog better.

Bully seems more true to the real life events but I still prefer Alpha Dog.

Great post...I always thought these two films were eerily similar.

I can't really say which one is better...I find Alpha Dog a tad more re watchable. But "bully" seemed absolutely sacred. I take care of that dvd like its the Bible. If we are comparing the murder scenes in both films, I would say that Bully wins by an inch...just because the death was much longer and painful. The death scene in "alpha dog" wasn't as much disturbing...as it was painfully sad.

Both movies bring out an entire slew of emotions. But "Bully" was more complex as the main character was hated. "Alpha Dog" could easily mess with the emotions, because the poor kid was only 15 and innocent. Bully, however, made us feel sorrow for a character we absolutely despised. It takes a special kind of talent to achieve that kind of effect.

It's a close call, but I'm going to go with Bully.

I thought of Bully while watching this too

Both are shocking to watch thinking they are true stories but i think Bully shocked me more

Bully is miles better in my opinion. That's a really good film on a lot of levels.

There are a lot of problems with Alpha Dog, but the biggest one is that Emile Hirsch is completely unconvincing as a threatening drug dealer that intimidates people. It was hard to take him seriously. I really rate him as an actor, but he was totally miscast in this film.

Both Alpha Dog and Bully are good movies and I like them both. But the difference between the two is that in Alpha Dog, the crime in the movie is done within a 3-4 day span. With Bully, the killing is planned but there is no evidence on how long the killers had planned the killing. But the consequences of the killers actions are shown at the ends of both movies. As for a choice between both movies, that's pretty difficult.

I prefer Bully because the characters are more "fun" to watch. They're all bumbling idiots and if it weren't a true story, I'd compare it favorably to Heathers, Jawbreaker, or any other dark comedy about teen murder (though I'll admit it's nowhere near as clever as those). Everyone in Alpha Dog is wholly detestable except for the victim. I guess I just can't find that much homophobia, racism, and sexism enjoyable. But both are interesting, tragic, and well-told stories.
