Uninteresting and Boring - Don't waste your time

For anyone thinking of watching this, do yourself a favor. Don't waste your time.

It was a chore for me to sit through Funland. I would have given up after a few episodes but I hoped it would get better or at least have a great ending. What a piece of crap.

From everything I read about Funland I should have loved it. I love dark stories, black humor and weird characters. I love David Lynch, Carnivale, The League of Gentlemen, Twin Peaks.. you get the idea. Unfortunately, Funland fails to deliver.

What you do get in Funland is hacky, cliched plots and soap opera characters. The characters weren't interesting and I didn't like or care about what happened to any of them. I was bored and uninterested in the characters and the plot. I struggled to watch each episode and wish I had given up early on and not wasted my time.

I'll second the above comment.

I've just watched the entire series over a couple of nights and loved every minute of it.

It is one of the most original, funny, dark and disturbing tv programmes I have seen in a long time and I can't recommend it enough.

Why did the OP even bother? Like the person above, I watched the whole series over a few nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The comparisons to the league of gentlemen are unfair as this is a fantastic series in its own right. Well written, well acted and the direction is innovative and atmospheric.

I'll third that even....I loved this series and as I remember they re-ran episodes in case you'd missed them at the time and I even watched those as well! Wonderful!

I have it on DVD but still haven't watched it all yet. Up to episode nine or ten I think.

The pilot/first episode is brilliant, which the rest of the episodes haven't really lived up to.

I thought the character, The Finn, wasn't particularly good either. His accent and personality seemed a bit OTT.

That said, there are some brilliant one-liners.

I watched the first episode when it was on telly, and I didn't like it at all. I'm glad I bought the DVD and persevered, 'cos now I think it's a brilliant series, one which the first episode doesn't do justice.

FUNLAND was a terrific series - dark, puzzling and totally engrossing (and often gross). I actually pity those folks who didn't get it. I only caught a few episodes when it was shown on BBC TV but when I picked up the DVD I watched all 11 episodes over 2 days. It was brilliant.

...now I do it just to watch their f----n' expression change.

I fully agree with the original poster. I just finished the series and even though it had all the ingredients to be really good, in the end nothing really worked and it was just a mess.

It doesn't work as comedy, as nothing is even remotely funny unless you find completely unrealistic characters acting like morons funny (is this the "british humor" one always hears about?).

And it doesn't work as drama either because the plot has more holes than substance. The main plot makes no sense, because why would she burn down the chapel but not tear apart the safe? And all the side-plots just end up in the air without any kind of resolution.

So even though I see how this show could have been great, the end result is unfortunately just really bad and a waste of time...

I ended up fast forwarding to the strip scene by the lead actress. Nothing else is in the show is interesting.
