is this connected to in bruges in anyway

tml ohare

i was just wondering if there was any connection between this and in bruges. they are both written and directed by martin mcdonagh and both have brenden gleason in them. in in bruges it is mentioned that brenddan gleason's character has lost his wife, and i read the same on the plot outline for this movie on imdb. in in bruges his character is only called ken and his full name is never said while here it credits him simply as donnelly. could they both be the same character and this be a clever hint by the director leaving people to think that the character might be called ken donelly.

let me know your thoughts.

Nope, I'm afraid that there's no connection between Six Shooter and In Bruges. Ken's wife in In Bruges was black, and was murdered by a cop.

Though, I wouldn't be surprised if in any future films, McDonagh establishes such links from film to film. Some of his plays mention (but don't feature) characters from other plays.

Where did you get that Ken's wife was murdered by a cop? I thought that Ken just described his wife's killer as a white man. Maybe I missed something.

In the film, it's only stated that Ken's wife was black and murdered by a white man. And that Harry Waters (Ralph Finnes) got the man who did it.

In the deleted scenes of the film, it's revealed that Ken's wife was a prostitute who was killed by a crooked cop named Potter. In a pretty bizarre scene, a younger Harry comforts a distraught younger Ken, and then simply walks into the police barracks and decapitates Potter. It's easy to see why the scene was cut, but the actors playing younger versions of Finnes and Gleeson do an awesome job. And as with the rest of the film, the dialogue is pretty great.

It's not connected in a film sense, but there are similarities - Gleason's wife has died in both; his counterpart is younger and very talkative; a portion of it takes place on a train; some shots are very similar; and there are multiple references to midgets.
