Do you guys think it was necessary to add that element in the plot? That the agent in charge of the investigation is actually the same guy who killed his mother 20 years before? I think that one was a little bit too far-fetched and really not that necessary. They could've kept it at the fact that it was the two mobsters who killed his family. Or was there a necessary reason they included that in the scenario and i'm missing it?
shareThey did explain in the movie that before that guy was a cop, he used to be mixed up with the bookies. They don't specifically say but we are led to believe that he owed a debt greater than he could pay and the boss gave him an opportunity to get out of that debt by killing Slevin's mom. shareNo one ever said it was before he was a cop. He merely says that 20 years ago he used to sign his paychecks over to his bookie. No reason a cop can't have a gambling problem, be crooked, or dissolve his gambling debt by making a hit.
