Timeline of the movie?

Ok, the movie's origin is in 1979, and Slevin is what, 10, 12? I'd imagine the movie takes place in like 1999/2000, to account for Hartnett's age, as the guy himself was BORN in 1978 like me, and if it was in 2006 as when the movie was released, he sure didn't look like someone who'd be into their mid/late 30s by then, right?

Yeah, the 1979 scenes were twenty years ago, so the movie must take place around 1999.

However, when Lucy Liu shows Slevin the picture of Goodkat on her phone, it's dated 2005...

Hence my point about timeline vs apparent age. Though, granted, people think I'm the better part of a decade younger, as apparently I don't look my age.
