Intermittently Funny
While this film has some funny moments , like so many modern comedies, it is too fast and frenetic .
It is particularly unfortunate that it wastes the talent of Olivia Colman in a minor role.

Yes, intermittently funny puts it well. There are several clever moments, but they just don't add up to big laughs
shareEh...i liked it well enough
shareI tried watching it about a year ago and gave up about 40 minutes in. For me, Edgar Wright seems to often confuse fast for funny. He seems to think as long as you cut your gags really fast, it's somehow immediately funny. And he overdoes the visual aspect of comedy as well. He never balances a well placed visual gag with any sort of clever quips.
For me, watching his movies just feels like watching an editor do frat board tricks. Mel Brooks was a far better comedy director.
I agree with all this. I don't find Hot Fuzz particularly funny, but it is entertaining.
I think the funniest joke that I've seen from all 3 of these Cornetto trilogy movies is from Shaun of the Dead, when Shaun insults his girlfriend's friend calling him"four eyes" not realising he's actually taken his glasses off.
For the most part there are too many visual gags, and not enough clever lines.
FYI your all wrong!
Just because a film packs a lot of gags in dosennt mean they arnt funny
Actually, I found 3/4 of it funny, just not the finale.
But then, the whole "trilogy" tends to suffer from weak endings.
