About the prize they got for being the employee of the month.

Haven't watched this movie in a long time, but wasn't the malibu the prize because of Dax Shepards character having a consistent and long streak of being employee of the month?

If that's how it was, then why does Dane Cooks character(an employee that from what I remember was a consistently below average employee by always being late and giving away merchandise at half price by damaging the product) get allowed the chance to win the car by being the employee of the month only once for his entire time working there?

I want to just ignore this, but it's bugging me now since I can't remember it clearly.

Dane Cook's character (Zack) didn't have a chance to win the car. Dax's character (Vince) was going to win the car because he would have won employee of the month for 18 months in a row, which put him in the hall of fame and would have won him the car. So Zack didn't win the car, he just kept Vince from winning it.

Oh, alright.

Could've sworn I remember seeing Dane Cooks character eyeing the malibu as if it was going to possibly be his though.

It would be Zach's car eventually with Vince being fired.
