jack black is an amazing actor and a singer/musician...
the main character actually reminds me of him a lot and i admit i would prefer JB for that role

i actually thought he was Booger, from Revenge of the Nerds. but then he'd in his 50's by now. he looks a lot like Booger.

Jack Black was also in The Jackal, a crappy Bruce Willis movie. He's not a terribly good actor. he's funny in some of the skits i've seen, but he doesn't have the magnetism to pull off an entire movie. Nacho Libre was charming in its own way, but wasn't terribly great. his Mexican accent was crap. i like that film tho, i think because of its childlike innocence.

King Kong was crap for the first 2 hours.

I think he's quite good. He can definitely pull off supporting role, but he's also capable of leading. School of Rock was great, he would have totally nailed the Def Leppard bit at the end of movie.

The actor in this one is fine... Jack Black has the same old weirdo mannerisms, and he'd do the same stuff here. He's barely bearable.

Actually, Dan Fogler was the main character in this movie but was also the best friend in Good Luck Chuck so I think that's what the poster meant.

I call movies that are considered 'bad' hated movies.

Jack Black is freaking awesome. His best so far is School of Rock. Also the LoTR and the Spiderman parodies are sensational.

Seriously? Black plays the same wild-eyed cartoon buffoon in every role. It’s all he can do.

I’ve seen Fogler in other projects. He’s proven since this yet he is an actual actor who changes to suit each role.

Seriously guys, the only people who think Jack Black is a poor actor are the people who only know him for his work with Tenacious D.
Jack Black has been acting since The Never Ending Story. He was in such masterpieces as The Cable Guy and High Fidelity.
Balls of Fury would be lucky to have such a great actor.

Jack Black isn't nearly as funny as he thinks he is. He was terribly miscast in King Kong and I didn't laugh once during Nacho Libre or Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny.

I think it's obvious that this role was written for Jack Black and once the producer's couldn't snag him, they hired DF.
Just as well, Jack Black isn't nearly as good as he thinks he is. Serves Jack Black right for believing his press releases!

Why do you want to see the same actor in the same roles over and over!? I think Fogler was fine in this. Know him from "Fanboys" and it was nice to see him again here instead of Jack Black or Seth Rogan once again. If you never give new actors a chance, you will have to stick to the sameold bunch forever and who wants that.

Fogel wasn't bad but there was the opportunity for him to step up and take the film to another level and he didnt do so, he merely held his own.

as far as blacks singing, you do realize that in some roles he tries to make his character a bad singer? He certainly has the ability to sing with charisma.

And if you're not sure about his acting, check out the neverending story III. Terrible movie that he ne nearly saves as a villain.
