I imagine she'd hunt down other pedophiles and possibly even kill them. There is possible evidence that could lead police to her: 1-There would've been neighbors who witnessed the fight on the rooftop, 2-Sandra Oh's character, 3-She impersonated a police officer when she called Jeff's girlfriend, 4-The possibilty she didn't erase her online chats with him. But other than that she erased evidence inside the house so chances are small she'd get caught as far as I see. What do you think?
That's the question, is she just avenging this one girl's rape and murder or is this her life and she just goes on to the next one and next one and next one?
she implies that everything she says is a lie and that she did not even know the girls in question, but on the other hand, considering the very last scene where she is playing in the forrest could imply that her work is done.
I believe that she had a connection to the girl - sister, cousin, friend...I also believe that she is one sick little girl. She faked laughter, hurt, offense and she did it well. She was there to kill him, and believed she could do it. Ultimately, he made the decision to commit suicide but he was definitely coerced by her. Got off topic, sorry. Anyway, I think her work was done for a while, until she was wronged by the next person. Does that make sense?
I think she'd be fine. No one is going to look very hard for the killer once they find the contents of his safe. She just did their job for them. Nobody saw the fight on the roof, but they will find Jeff's knife up there. And she was pretty good at this. Very thorough about cleaning up after herself. I think she did great. She should get an award. Or a puppy. I wish there were 30 more just like her. Our kids would be a lot safer.
I thought that Hayley left a lot of holes in her evidence. Since Janelle was right outside the house, I'm guessing Hayley made a break for it immediately so she couldn't fix everything. There were a couple of things that would raise eyebrows.
* Janelle will tell the police that she got a call from a 'Lt Hayley' to visit the house. Obviously the LAPD will find no such call was made by one of their own. I can't remember how technology had advanced by 2005 but would they be able to find out that the call was made from Jeff's phone?
* The 'suicide note' Hayley types up on the computer looks rather fake and conveniently left there. Although she went about cleaning up the house, there's always going to be some kind of evidence she missed. Likewise the police might even suspect that the photo of Donna was planted.
* Judy Tokuda will tell the police that she saw a strange girl walking around on the roof and she had a fresh cut on her forehead when she came to the door. Likewise she told a story that was clearly a pack of lies and seemed very eager to get rid of her. Hayley also claimed to be Jeff's niece from out of town - but there would be no sign of someone else staying in the house (since Hayley said she would be there a couple more days). Hayley also said Jeff had food poisoning so there would also be no evidence of someone vomiting or having been sick. Hayley came across as a possible vandal who may have been breaking into the house.
My interpretation is that this evidence against Hayley gives the police reason to suspect that Jeff was framed for something - but they won't catch the true killer. So Jeff dies but the public never believe he was a child molester - meaning Hayley doesn't get what she wanted after all. Which is a slightly fitting end to have both Jeff and Hayley somewhat punished for their crimes.
what do the police find? a guy that has hanged himself. the autopsy will show no force whatsoever. they will most likely find the open safe with the pics, because most likely hailey lied to him and they will find the suicide note on the computer. why would they suspect fould play to begin with.
"* Janelle will tell the police that she got a call from a 'Lt Hayley' to visit the house. Obviously the LAPD will find no such call was made by one of their own."
unlikely that she remebers that details. even if, what are they supposed to do with that? she already suggested that everything she told about herself was a lie.
" can't remember how technology had advanced by 2005 but would they be able to find out that the call was made from Jeff's phone?"
if it was a 911 call, then they could. landline to landline depends. they might, but even then what are they supposed to do with the information?
"* The 'suicide note' Hayley types up on the computer looks rather fake and conveniently left there. Although she went about cleaning up the house, there's always going to be some kind of evidence she missed. Likewise the police might even suspect that the photo of Donna was planted. "
let's not forget that there is a guy hanging from the roof, with pedo pics in the open safe and pedo pics on the computer and on top of that is the suicide note. honestly, who would suspect foul play?
"Judy Tokuda will tell the police that she saw a strange girl walking around on the roof and she had a fresh cut on her forehead when she came to the door."
where do you get that from? she was at the door once, but why would she keep an eye on the roof next door?
"Likewise she told a story that was clearly a pack of lies and seemed very eager to get rid of her. why would judy care enough to remember exactly what hailey said and care about those details? i don't know about your relationship with your neighbours, but if i had to knock at mines for some reason and it would be the same situation, all i would go home with was "they were not there".
even if she remembered and they get a phantom picture and let's say hayley left DNA and let's even say that she did leave fingerprints,
a) i think it is safe to say that she is not in the system, so it will be hard to find her, but more importantly b) even if they even have the intent to find her and eventually find her. then what? no hint at murder, none whatsoever. about her being there, well the dude was into minors and had their conversation on his computer AND their meeting at the coffee place was public, so why even consider foul play and IF, why and how connect her to it. Also, it wasn't even murder. At best it was blackmail, which also will be impossible to prove.

there were only two people in question for the murder. hailey already suggested, that she drove the other guy into suicide, so even though both said that they weren't the killer, they are both gone eventually. so yeah, the killer was dead at the end. also, neither was innocent. one of them did the murder, the other one had no problem with it, as long as he could film it.
hailey would gone free either way, if they even find her and even if they start to investigate to begin with.
What I'm getting at with Judy is that she clearly found Hayley suspicious ("did it rain?"). So when Jeff is found hanged outside his house, Judy is going to of course say that she saw a strange girl walking around on the roof and when she came to the door, said girl seemed very suspicious and eager to get rid of her. And again Janelle will say that she was called to the house by someone who lied about being in the LAPD. That's pretty easy to check if anyone in the department made the call. So there will be a lot of questionable evidence there.
from the angle this is happening, she would not be able what's going on on the roof, which would make the suicide even more plausible. you would have a witness that there was no screaming, no nothing. just a guy jumping to his death. it would even make clear that he wasn't pushed or anything.
"said girl seemed very suspicious and eager to get rid of her."
i answered that in my lst post. repeating your original statement doesn't make any sense.
"And again Janelle will say that she was called to the house by someone who lied about being in the LAPD."
yeah, AGAIN, even if she would, which might have been the last thing on her mind, finding her boyfriend hanging dead in front of his own house, what difference would it make?
"officer, i was called to come here by someone who clearly is not employed at your department, so i conclude that it was in fact murder and that it was a little girl with a brunette pixie haircut, claiming to be 14 and calling herself hailey, you really should find her".
"ok, so why would you conclude that?"
"because jeff was involved in a murder, that no one would connect him to and that i know nothing about. clearly that was the motiv into tricking him into killing himself".
"ah, ok madam. that makes total sense. we start looking for her right now"
but furthermore, she made sure that they were seen in public and that the police will find the booze, the pedo pics ..etc. for all they know, if they even care, she was just a potential victim of jeff.
You must have misunderstood what I said. Judy saw Hayley walking around on the roof earlier in the day. There's a shot of Judy in her house where she can clearly see Hayley on the roof. Since she's the next door neighbour, she will of course be questioned by the police about whether she saw Jeff at all that day. And then she'll say something about seeing the girl walking around on the roof who claimed to be his niece when she called at the house - but yet is nowhere to be found at the crime scene.
Janelle will have to give a statement since she's a witness to the crime scene. And she'll say exactly what happened: someone from the department called her and told her to come over to the house. Again when Judy is questioned - and a question about if she saw police cars at whatever time Janelle claims to have been called at - they'll find that there were no cops or anything at the house. So Janelle got an anonymous call from someone to get her at the house. And with Judy's testimony about the suspicious girl, there's plenty of reason to suspect there's more to the situation than meets the eye. As another poster mentioned, Jeff's body would show signs of assault.
I'm not sure why you are being so antagonistic, theref. An autopsy would show that his genitals were mutilated, i mean that blood came from somewhere so he was clearly cut, and if she took the surgical scalpel with her it would be a curious thing where the scalpel went. He was tied up at least twice and would show marks of two separate rope marks on his wrists, also on his neck from the first near hanging. He was also tased several times which tend to leave marks. He was thrown into the bathtub which would show early stages of trauma and subcutaneous bruising at that point even if not externally visible. The neighbor saw suspicious enough activity to venture on over, and a young girl with a bleeding cut on her forehead answered the door and claimed to be his niece and wouldn't let her see Jeff. There were different phone calls that can be documented to Janelle and possibly her friend, so Janelle would tell the cops that she received a cryptic call from a female telling her to come over. A typed suicide note? (not very convincing) Evidence of a gun going off because that bullet went somewhere. Plus toxicology will show the presence of whatever substance the girl gave him. Nevermind his online communication with her which will be studied by computer forensics. And he was seen in public with a girl matching her description by the neighbor at the place and time agreed to in said online communication. And she might think she's a wiz at cleaning up all evidence of her there, but she did bleed and under flourescent light with luminol, what with all the blood marks all over the house it would reveal a struggle with blood everywhere. Blood that was attempted to be cleaned up, not really something a suicidal person would do before jumping off his roof. What else?
Are you seriously trying to refute this mountain of evidence that this was more than just a suicide?!?! You crack me up, and clearly know nothing about forensics, obviously. Go back to school, doll.
The autopsy will find tons of evidence of struggle. He will have rope burns on his wrists and ankles. He already had a visible rope burn from the first time she "hung" him in the kitchen (she really had the strength of 10). He will have bruises on his ballsack -- it looked like she put that clamp on it to make him feel like something was happening. His body will show lots of evidence that something strange happened to him pre-suicide. I have no idea if it would be enough for the police to investigate further.
