dream or reality

I just watched this movie... I think reason he says that is, that women is living with those two men in the home... One is like a ghost which is the dream, the other is the reality. But we don't know for sure. I know this is not much of a explanation but thats what i thought.

I think it speaks of at least two things central to the film. The main character 'visits' people's homes not to steal, and given his resourcefulness likely not just to survive either - he does it to experience different realities. He wants to see how it is to live as the actual owners do, or at least, how it is to live in their environments. In that sense he's constantly living a dream, just a different one every few days. But it must also refer to the husband who's completely oblivious to the fact that the guy is living in his own house, that his wife is in love with and happy to see not him but his enemy. He can't tell the difference between this illusion and the real world. Although... does it really matter? It seems to be best even for him.
