See these are the reasons why this movie....

Didn't work:
-Casting Ashanti as Dorothy. I mean like, Dorothy is supposted to be YOUNG. Like 10, 11. Not 20's! Yesh. No one learned a lesson from Return to Oz I take it?
-Trying to make it funny by making obvious adult humor jokes.
-Making Dorothy a singer. She wants to go home, I mean seriously that just strays to far away.

I mean this movie was good in terms of staying true to the book, well most of the time. But, I wish they didn't worry about appealing the modern audience and just did it like the book not filling it with rubbish jokes and such...

the muppets worked, the actors didnt...well dorathy didn't, she's an R&B singer and its set in Kansas!!!.... it was political correctness that wrecked this movie!

ADDENDUM... lickdogfb what "political correctness"?

Are you joking? What the heck was politically correct about this movie? Certain jokes (while they may have been under the kiddie radar) were anything but politically correct. Unless you're referring to the race of the actress. And I think pop star status got her cast more than her color.

When was Dorothy ever properly played by someone young in a major film version?

Judy Garland in "Wizard of OZ" (1939) - 17
Diana Ross in the "WiZ" (1978) - 34
Ashanti in "Muppet Wiz" (2005) - 25

At least she's not the oldest to ever play Dorothy and to be honest she looks younger than Judy Garland did when she played her and Judy's considered the Dorothy *ideal* of the film world.

Yeah, Fairuza Balk in Return To Oz, she must have been about 10 or 11 when she did that film.
