I'm interested in seeing the muppets adapt "The War of the Worlds"
The original 1898 novel by H.G. Wells, not the remakes from the 1950s or the new millenium. Those were both set in the present. Plus, they both made the martian war machines more powerful than they actually were. I think this one should take place in late Victorian England, the novel's original setting, with invasion shots around the world right after the Thunder Child sinks.
I'd also like the see Muppets portray all the prominent characters in the book and have humans just in the background. I wouldn't be against there being at least one or two songs in the movie 'cause, it just wouldn't feel like a muppet movie without singing would it?
Here's how I'd picture it:
The Journalist - Kermit Carrie, the girlfriend - Miss Piggy Prof. Ogilvy - Dr. Bunsen Honeydew Henderson - Fozzie Bear Stent - Beaker The Artilleryman - Scooter Captain of the HMS Thunder Child - Sam Eagle or Johnny Fiamma Skipper - Sal Monkey? Parson Nathaniel - Gonzo Beth, the parson's wife - Camilla The Badass martians - original muppet creations, either by Jim Henson's Creature Shop or Walt Disney Imagineering
It'll give the muppet gang a chance to do something fresh for a change
That would be ironic because not only did Frank Oz direct the film version, two of Henson's children worked on it (Brian and Heather), and the guy who designed the original Audrey 2 was Martin P. Robinson, who worked with Henson and Oz on Sesame Street.
I think it'd be really funny though - I can already picture Fozzy and Gonzo as Firmin and Andre, and Kermit as Raoul :) and Miss Piggy as La Carlotta, of course...
I would rather see them have original plotlines like the Henson era (hope it pans out well for the new movie)......throwing the Muppets into already established stories is part of what lead to their decline in the first place.
