This film is more about Marie's lifestyle than her life!

Which doesn't make it a bad film, I rather like it. It's sumptuous, charming, even touching at times.

But it does mean that the definitive, compelling, dramatic film that should be made about the life of Marie Antoinette is yet to come. Holy crap, the drama that woman went through!

Well the 1938 version shows her entire life, have you seen that?

Yes, and ever since I've scoffed at anyone who claims Norma Shearer is a good actress! Dreadful film, mawkish and artificial.

Perhaps there's a good version of this story out there that I haven't seen, but I don't think there's a really good english-language film.
