This is far and away one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. If your idea of a great movie is watching a bunch of fools in powdered wigs flit around and eat bonbons for two hours this is the film for you! I mean it. Other than that, not one interesting thing happens in this movie. You don't even get to see Marie lose her head. Major FAIL!

She was child who was living like a rock star would live today (hence the converse sneakers split second scene)
Also... this movie shows you HOW she got to lose her head.
The first time we see her go to the Opera, she applauds when no one applauds when Royalty is present (so the show can go on) The others applaud...
... her!! You see them turn towards her and smile as they are applauding.
Later on they are at the opera again and she applauds. People look at her and glare disappointedly. They do not applaud.

This was a totally vacuous movie - beautiful tableaux, gorgeous colours but apart from that - nothing.
No character development, awful script and acting, no emotional involvement.
Yes, I think I would enjoy Braveheart more.
This was very pretty, but codswallop.
I agree, Buster, this movie was vacuous and pointless, the scene cuts were jarring and the MTV soundtrack was so distracting. And the dialogue ?? Oy vey. What a mess.
