Sound effects

What is with movies and the too loud sound effects and the nearly whispered dialogue. This is not the only movie like that, most newer movies are the same.
This movie has a number of terribly annoying SWOOSH sounds that signal a disturbing scene. A good or even mediocre movie does not need this attention-getting effect.

You must be watching this on FEARNET On-Demand like I just did . I do agree with you ristowge . Why does the dialogue on most movies nowadays almost always have to be so low to the point of mumbling or whispering ( which is worse when a movie doesn't have the Closed Captioning feature either ? ) but the music is so loud it's just about bouncing off the walls ? It should be in the reverse dialogue loud and clear and music / sound effects taken down a few notches too bad it isn't like the older movies used to be . It would make these movies more enjoyable and not so off-balanced . Thanks ristowge for your subject post .

I don't know what FEARNET on demand is. I watched on a BluRay disc. I find I have to use the closed captioning and the volume on the DVD very low. You are right, they should do the reverse. Old movies are well-balanced, new movies require me to have the remote in my hand all the time.

Oh OK ristowge . FEARNET is a horror movie Channel on cable TV ( but with some commercials and is a bit edited too - still a very good channel for old and newer horror flicks ). On-Demand is a special service ( available on certain cable TV packages ) in this case " FEARNET On-Demand " are movies that are on that particular TV channel service but those movies are free ( with no charges like some other movies that are On-Demand ) commercial-free and are unedited too . Plus the movie selections change every month as well . It's like having a small video store in your home but on your cable box service instead lol . It's a great service if you watch a lot of movies that you don't have on DVD or BluRay ( or don't want to buy but if so you can too with certain ones ) . I agree it can be very frustrating having to play the game of turning the sound up and down every 15 seconds because of the unbalanced audio of these newer movies . It does tend to break the concentration flow of these movies too . Thanks ristowge for your reply .

Thanks for the information. My cable carrier is Brighthouse and FEARNET is not available on it. There does not seem to be a channel dedicated to horror movies.
I think the sound problems are inherent in the movie-making, not in how it's broadcast. New directors think the way to scare people is with sudden loud noises. They do make people jump, but don't make the movie better.

Excellent points there ristowge . It's most definitely some kind of new styled " main streamed fashion " in movie making for the newer generation . IMPO It's just not my cup of tea either ( I prefer the old school way in movies ) . This newer style is very distracting to the viewer who wishes to actually hear the dialogue being said for the importance of the movie storyline . I guess some movies are sadly just not made in the way it was done years ago . Again it's too bad these unnecessary changes occur ( and you're right again - " it doesn't make the movie better " lol ) . You're most welcome for the On-Demand Info too .
