Filming locations

"Hatchet". The water scenes and around the swamp looks way too much like it was filmed indoors. Not a natural look at all. Could been filmed in a studio, probably was. When it started to rain when the boat was stuck for sure the rain was fake. I appreciate the movie because I sure as heck could never make one even with the proper equipment. It's just that at least make it look like it's outside. With a little more effort it could happen. I don't know, maybe I'm just totally wrong. But it definitely looks like most of the scenes were shot indoors.

I wouldn't be shocked. Filming on water is expensive, much less a swamp.

While the opening Bourbon Street scenes were obviously done in New Orleans, the swamp scenes -- the bulk of the movie -- were done at Sable Ranch, Santa Clarita, California. I'm assuming the swamp is a well-done indoor set since Santa Clarita has a dry climate. A similar indoor set was used for "Man-Thing," shot a year earlier in Australia. I mention "Man-Thing" because the swamp sets & lighting look about the same, although "Man-Thing" is superior.
