Everyone deserves better than this garbage ...

including white people who love movies regardless of the color of the actors involved.

This was the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen, not because it was made by a black person and marketed for black people, but because it was written so poorly. This is one of the sorriest excuses for a film I have ever seen. Tyler Perry belongs with Michael Cimino, the Cimino who never recovered from Heaven's Gate.

The color of someone's skin shouldn't matter. If a black writer/director/producer/actor sucks, then he sucks. Both Tyler Perry and this movie suck.

reply

I'm sorry you feel this way.

I thought this movie was amazing. And I believe Tyler Perry is an amazing writer/producer/director/actor/man. His plays always have me on edge, laughing my arse off.

But I want the ganja, never hurt no one,
Lord, you got to kill off the one youth man.

Whether you like to believe it or not, blacks and whites are 2 different cultures. Different cultures have different customs and ways of life. They react differently to situations because of the culture they come from. THIS is way the movie was called Diary of a Mad BLACK Woman.

Blacks, whites, hispanics, middle easterners, etc are all different cultures and are NOT the same in their experiences and the way they react to them because of their culture. A person reflects their culture. Generally, they would react to Helen's situation in different manners.

I enjoyed the movie and wish that people could wake up and realize that just because we acknowledge cultures have differences does not make the movie racist.

Okiedokie, Grampa. Thanks for the crash course in film history. Wanna bring up Ishtar while you're at it?

Wow I thought the movie was great! I was happy to see a good black movie :) Not like some of these other movies recently that are dumb. I would react the same way she did when he threw her out, but I would stand up and beat the crap out of his new woman. I am a white woman, not that it matters, but I loved the movie! It's awesome when straight men dress in drag no matter their color. Look at how long Milton Berle did it, tons of laughs.

That may be true, but ALL women are alike in some way.

This movie is fantastic

White people don't make crap like you *beep*!

I think this movie was very moving in every way, I could relate to it in everyway & I'm not even black, nor am I white but I think some people just miss the point & lack ... well ... an open mind I guess.

And yes, the colour of peoples skin shouldn't matter, but you try telling that to those who actually do think it matters. In this case racist matters aren't the issue (though I understand why you would think that way) & why do I understand your point? ... it's because we come from different cultures. If everyone took the time to actually understand ALL CULTURES then I'd like to think that there would be less racial tension in the world.

But it will always be like that so why not try to understand it before you debate it. Be ignorant all you want but until the day you TRULY set foot in the other person's shoes IT IS THEN that you can question it.

I thought this movie was great. I've seen it twice, own the DVD, and may watch it again soon after happening upon this site. I thought it was funny, moving, and uplifting. If you don't like this movie, by no means should you watch My Brother. Wow, now that was a horrible movie.

Actually, I liked this movie, but you want to talk stupid, check out "meet the browns". Now THAT, was a stupid movie.

reply

It started out great and I was very involved, until... Tyler Perry showed up in his clown suit and ruined the whole film. It turned into a gimmicky joke and nothing but a vanity piece for his closeted gay drag act. The writing was pretty bad too and the cahracters very steriotypical

reply

I agree about the drag act sucking, but unfortunately I feel that Madea wasn't the only cartoonish character in the movie. No, I'm not talking about Joe, at least he was funny. I'm talking about Orlando and Charles. The former was so sickeningly sweet and the later so absurdly evil that it was impossible to believe in either as a character. It turned the movie into such bland mess that it was nearly impossible for me to care what was going on. And then on top of that, add all the cheesy Christian crap and yuck, yuck, yuck.

reply

Cheesy Christian crap? Ok, your not only insulting the movie now but your insulting my beliefs & most likely the majority of the people browsing through these threads. I'm a Christian & loved the movie because I can relate on the relationship, family, & the religious aspect. On top of all that, I'M NOT EVEN BLACK & still could relate! I would just love to know how its CHEESY CHRISTIAN CRAP? Believe it or not, this is what us CHEESY CHRISTIANS believe! We believe that God does not want us to love no man before him, & that we need to forgive others and ourselves, etc. I would never insult someones faith! This movie moved me so much and I know many others in more ways than one. Keep up the good work Tyler!

reply

Let me get this straight: It's acceptable for the end of this movie to crap all over the beliefs of other people, but if someone objects to it they're insulting the poor widdle Christians? Give me a break.

I would just love to know how its CHEESY CHRISTIAN CRAP?

It's cheesy because of it's Lifetime original movie level content and unfunny man-in-old-lady-drag humor. It's Christian because it constantly beats the audience over the head with a Christian "moral" message. And it's crap because it fails as a movie on every imaginable level and ultimately ends with the kind of obliviously antagonistic message that is so often a part of Christian movies.

reply

The poor widdle Christians?

ha boy arn't you prejudice????

And by the way I've watched the movie several times...I never heard them ONCE crap all over the beliefs of others! If it did, please tell me how!

Actually don't your ignorant!

The Christian "moral" message is the ONLY MESSAGE in my belief system! If an individual has any other spirtual beliefs that I don't necessarily except..well.. having the common courtesy that I have (I guess I learned it from my MORAL upbringing) I would most certainly respect others beliefs, values, morals, etc!

FIND THE RESPECT & INHALE!

Way to completely miss the point.

And by the way I've watched the movie several times...I never heard them ONCE crap all over the beliefs of others! If it did, please tell me how!

Well, everyone in the movie who is wonderful and kind is a practicing Christian and everyone who is screwed up or evil is not a practicing Christian, I think there's a pretty obvious, bigoted implication right there. And then, in case anyone doesn't catch that implication, it is explicitly stated in lyrics of the song they sing in the church at the end.

Sadly, I'm not surprised that you didn't pick up on this. It's easy to be oblivious when you're a part of a powerful majority.

Actually don't your ignorant!

LOL. I hope someone else finds this sentence as funny as I do.

After reading your posts it's pretty obvious that you don't respect the beliefs of others. Like I said before, it's easy to be oblivious when you're a part of a powerful majority.

reply

Mnemonic - I refuse to add on to these childish arguments between you two. However, I do want to point out one thing.

I'm sorry that you feel the way you do about Christians. But the "Christian moral message" that you are referring to, (i.e. having faith, treating others how you want to be treated, the essence of family/community) also apply to other belief systems around the world. These messages of morality are not necessarily confined to Christianity. Many other religions all over the universe practice the same concepts. Just wanted to point that out.

Haha, haven't been on here since Jul but just wanted to point out something that you copied & pasted of mine...

I would most certainly respect others beliefs, values, morals, etc!

The you responded....

LMAOOO can you read? Your so comical! Seriously...I clearly stated that I do respect others and their beliefs, values, & morals!

reply

Why the hell does it matter if someone respects your beliefs or not? No one has to respect your beliefs. You weren't born with them, you choose them. That would be like getting mad at someone because they don't like the same kind of music you do.

reply

The movie wasn't the best i've seen, but I don't think it sucked either. There were a few holes in the plot though and I didn't think they let Shemar & Kimberly Elises's relationship develop enough. I also didn't think it was right how Helen did cruel things to Charles after he got shot (i.e. pushing him in the tub, where he almost drowned). I know he was a bastard to her and I certainly didn't care for him at all, but what she did was wrong because he was paralyzed afterall and pretty much helpless. Two wrongs do not make a right. Other than that, I thought the movie was okay. I'd give it a 2.5/5, mainly because Madea's scenes were funny and overall the movie held my interest throughout.

meh its a good tv movie. but whenever its on tv they leave out the good parts due to time restraints.
and what do you mean by the color of someone's skin doesn't matter

I'm with you. Been listening to it from my office while a co-worker watches it. The script is utter trash.
