It drives me crazy that there is NOTHING on it! She is enjoying it so much & all it looks like is a pile of baby spinach. I am not saying it has to be loaded down like a Cobb salad or anything, but who in the heck eats a pitiful salad like that? The whole purpose of the scene is that she is torturing him by eating in front of him & she pick leaves! I just think it is silly. I also just chalk it up to the fact that they were supposed to be super-uppity (Sp?) & it looked "elegant" with the wine & classical music. Has anyone else noticed this & did it make sense to you?

PS... I LOVE the movie, so I am not downing it as a whole... just that one scene.

I know what you mean. I don't get it either because who gets that excited over salad? Now if it were me I'd have a big whole smorgusboard of stuff, lasagna, cheeseburger, curly fries, pizza, a tall Coke, cake, I would have the works to make him suffer.

I agree completely. This scene would have much more effective with a big juicy steak. Of course, Charles was probably so hungry by then it wouldn't have mattered what it was!

When I first watched it I thought the same thing, just for the purposes of the scene. But usually I prefer my salads bare. Even when there's no tomatoes or anything. But you know, I imagine if they had to do multiple takes, it's easier with no dressing or extras.

That did strike me as funny too! Especially since she is like "ummm, this is good." Like she just bit into a steak or something! But maybe salad was her thing!

In my opinion, the whole point of that scene was that she was eating and Charles wasn't. The fact that it was a salad wasn't the point. It was food. She was eating and Charles was starving.

LMAO! I couldn't agree more everytime I see that scene I just want to slap her for not eating a pile of soul food or something more tempting. She could've atleast put dressing on the sald it looked dry as all hell too.

I thought I was the only one bothered that she just had plain salad! Shoot, I would've had a steak or some chicken something that I will enjoy while Charles suffered from the mouth-watering aroma!

You know what would have been great? If she had been tearing into one of our Southern favorites, some crispy fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Charles would have cried like a baby over that.

Lmao!!!! If I remember correctly it didn't have any dressing on it either. Helen was tearing it up though  like it was a NY strip steak
