What exactly is Helen referring to when she says this?

Does she mean that Charles got an STD from sleeping around and gave it to Helen resulting in her 2 miscarriages?

That's so messed up. 

I haven;t seen the movie in several years, but i think its either what you described, or Charles had kids with his mistresses instead of Helen. Either way, the stress caused her miscarriages.

She means that he wasn't sleeping with her enough to impregnate her, he was too busy sleeping with his mistress
