shareI assume they offered him a plea bargain so the story could be told the way Biggs (ultimately the LAPD Chief as well as it appears) wanted it to go down. Just off the top of my head he was looking at murder charges, conspiracy, assault, battery, unlawful detention, tampering with evidence, theft of narcotics, and whatever else they had on him. He was facing the death penalty... probably offered up a reduced sentence at a better correctional facility as well.
