Did Ludlow shoot Washington on purpose? It's very confusing.

No. If Ludlow wanted to shoot Washington he would have put that bullet into the back of his head, not his shoulder. Accidents do in fact happen. Especially during violent confrontations.

Yes accidents happen, but Ludlow was a seasoned veteran so that would be very unlikely.

But Ludlow was shooting blindly. He wasn't even aware that he shot Washington until Biggs told him that the coroner's office dug 3 calibers out of Washington's body.
