It's pretty bizarre to know that Ulli Lommel actually did (no joke) work with Fassbinder. How in holy hell does someone in Fassbinder's inner circle end up where Lommel is now?

This is why I think this movie is a deliberate joke. Having hung around a genius like Fassbinder Lommel should at least be able to make a film of average quality.
