Surprisingly not crap!

I fully expected to not care for this movie going into it!

It's definitely not a laugh-a-minute riot, but there's something about it that is quite entertaining...

I don't know what people are fuzzing about, this is definitely a good comedy in a world where good comedies are rarer than hens' teeth.

I liked it. Not bad. Just a cute little movie. I don't know why Sean's embarrassed by it.

Totally!!!

SWS was ridiculous apologizing for this movie.

BBT is fantastic as always as this type of character, that's his comic niche!

I happen to be a fan of all three leads anyway....thinking they're always spot on. (each in their respective genre)

So lighten up Seann and... ~Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life~ DEB :)))

It made under 15 percent positive on Rottentomatoes. The 15 percent who actually called this movie good, are insane.

It was slow, unfunny, and virtually void of laughs.

Billy Bob Thornton can do better.

Despite some funny bits and gags and a superb cast, I found it difficult to watch this film. Perhaps it is because I have worked with children most of my life. Mr. Woodcock, as portrayed in the film, had no business working with young people. There is nothing wrong with this in a comedy as long as the sadistic adult gets eventual payback or comeuppance or is simply exposed. Think of Vic Morrow as the coach of the Yankess in the original "Bad News Bears." After establishing Woodcock as cruel and sadistic, you expect payback. However, what comes is way too little and way too late. I agree with SWS. The story had great potential but just didn't go in the right direction. It was almost as if the movie's message was, "Sure, the gym teacher was a little rough but kids who lack athletic ability or have a weight problem or have asthma deserve to be picked on." That is why this movie is, ultimately, crap. It validates the abusive and dysfunctional adults in our lives.

I don't think it is a documentary. I don't think it 'portrays' a typical situation, neither tends to validate any: it is a comedy. And one thing SERIOUS we can get from this comedy is to be careful about our first impressions.

I saw it on HBO the other day. It wasn't that bad, rushed ending though. I liked how they added more after the credits. Mr. Woodcock was pretty funny and a mean sob. The funniest part I'd say was when Nedderman talked about John's mom on camera. That had me laughing!

I liked 'Mr Woodcock' also.

It was a sloppy script and needed more than just cheesy jokes.
It was also uneven , with some really great moments between a lot of very bad scripting.
The overall performances from the cast was reasonable, but Susan Sarandon and Amy Poehler were the standout talents.

I also laughed when Nedderman kept commenting about John's mother's breasts. Kind of a nice MILF moment which could be an in-joke amongst the cast and crew. Susan Sarandon (in real life and in the film) quite enjoys being a MILF.

Despite a decent cast, this film is mediocre, at best. That translates to a waste of a viewer's time and money.
