You can see the bars on the weights twist and bend, and there was probably some sort of pulley on his feet and maybe a cut out portion of the carpet was refilled with coushon.
Then again SWC is pretty desperate for movies so I don't think anything like this would've stood in his way to take the leading role in a movie with Thorton and Sarandon.

To the poster defending SWC, I never said I didn't like him, but he's just out of the Hollywood loop.
A good deal of his movies have been flops, and after Stark Raving Mad I lost all hope for him. His performance in Mr. Woodcock was a bit above average but I think until he gets his lucky break in a genuine quirky comedy, he'll have to stick to the "balls to the wall jock *beep* roles that have suited him in the past.

SWS participated in the making of not less than 4 movies around 2006, namely "The Promotion" (previously was Quebec), "Trainwreck" (these two are not officially out, yet), Southland Tales, Mr. Woodcock ... and I don't mention Ice Age. For someone 'desperate', or out of the loop, well, anyone can come with his/her own judgment, now, isn't it?
It is generally preferable to present our hypothesis, our impression, as such, but not to present them as if they were facts, or making consensus. Like you did. It may give the impression that you are someone ready to thow false rumors all around, just to be interesting, in a conversation.
Your second paragraph is built upon what appears to be your biased appreciation. Not only the paragraph uses weasel construction, “a good deal of movies” (and giving none), but it also uses irrelevant rhetoric, leaving the impression that the cause of the “good deal of flops” should be solely attributed to SWS. And your conclusion speaks more of your state of mind than anything else: you don’t like SWS, too bad for you, but that is you and your taste. Note, though, that you are unlikely convicting anyone not already convinced, with what you presented.
It's a funny thing, because I really do like SWC. I wouldn't speak out against his credibility if I didn't hope the best for him. I'm not that judgmental.
Hypothesese aren't impressions or "first reactions". They are observations ordinarily expected that the entire scientific meathod is used to solidify. I've seen him do *beep* movies, and have seen weak acting from him, but also have seen him do very well in roles.
I havn't seen Southland Tales, but would honestly (and a bit regretfully) see a movie with merely his name attached to it. I do like him, don't get me wrong, but he has chosen some busts trying to stampede onto the red carpet. He needs to be a little more intelligent with his roles. I've seen him do his bad, and his good share in Hollywood. There are certain things suited to his abilities , much like other actors I appreciate like Vince Vaughn or Luke Wilson, who intelligently choose their roles. You tell me he is worthy of more than they are, and I'll just call you a fanboi.
Because of this movie, I could see him headlining some minor hits for now. But then again I'm an obnoxious *beep* for pointing the embarassing spotlight at him.
Bare in mind, I actually liked Bulletproof Monk and especially The Rundown. But the fact remains that a large base of his performances are sub-par for anything but direct-to-DVD.

I was there when SWS did that scene and yes it was him.. if you notice behind him in the gym there is double doors.. on the other side of thoes doors is a bungy cord..and under his shirt was a belt it was conected to... at a push of a button the bungy cord was snapped... that throw him backwards.. and he lands on gym mats... it was very cool to watch and SWS did it several times...

shareSWS definitively started the sequence, but, in another thread, here in IMDb, someone mentionned CGI was added. Maybe there are other people involved in the scene too, so SWS could be in it, but not the only one involved (and fully aware of it), up to the end of the scene we got, in the end.
