William Scott says sorry for 'bad' movie

Seann William Scott has apologised for his role in movie Mr Woodcock.

The actor said he was surprised by the poor quality of the film, which starred Billy Bob Thornton and Susan Sarandon.

Scott is quoted as saying: "Man, that movie was so bad. I managed to watch about 15 minutes of it before I gave up.

"Billy Bob Thornton didn't ever watch it. It was really a case of that movie not being what it could have been and I'm sorry."

He added: "You know, my friends back in Minnesota are proud of me, but they're not afraid to tell me when I've done a *beep* film like that one, or The Dukes of Hazzard."

Scott also admitted that he was still struggling to overcome being typecast by his character Scott Stifler in the American Pie franchise.

"On the one hand, [Stifler] created a real career for me," he said. "It gave me the opportunity to take care of my family. But it really is this one-dimensional, over-the-top, silly, stupid character."

I applaud him saying this stuff, but I can imagine producers being hesitant to hire him based on his comments.

Well...I thought Mr. Woodcock was funny. It wasn't oscar material, but it was fun to watch and entertaining.

And I agree with the previous person who said "it probably won't get Seann hired, to speak out against his films" not too bright, LOL

But I do love Seann, I am a huge fan.....so what if he sticks with comedy and playing arrogant characters like Stifler?? He's good at that :)

I dug this movie. I don't care if no one liked it. I laughed my ass off.

The cast was great. The cinematography, set design, and costumes were above average. The jokes were funny and weren't overplayed.

I don't know why anyone has a problem with this silly flick?

This movie was pathetic but good for him for apologizing and owning up to it. Sometimes movies just turn out bad. It was better than Dukes of Hazzard at least.

So he wants to be a thespian now?
Mr Woodcock was a very solid comedy which offered him the opportunity to break the mold of his image, Stifler a brilliant character in an otherwise puerile comedy venture, Dukes Of Hazzard was predictable money-making crap, and now he still owes me an apology for Road Trip.

Yeah I enjoyed this one. He has made a lot of bad movies...like the one where he was a ninja. At least woodcock was better than that

Being sorry is not the same as excusing ourselves. I can be sorry (for you) that your grand-mother died, that does not mean I excusing myself about her death! A sorrow is not an apology.

Whats the big deal about he being sorry about it? How can you look for the bad in that? Hes just being down to earth, thats all.

I just find it very odd as he has done several really bad moneymaking movies and Mr Woodcock was absolutely solid, one of the best movies he's participated in.

I just watched it on HBO. It was pretty bad. There was virtually nothing funny in it. The previews make it look far better than it is. It's very, very slow.

Not the best comedy i have ever seen, but it was not that bad, i gave it 6 of 10 and as usual i thought Billy Bob stole the show, with his smart ass quips, Sean is always funny even when is basically playing the straight man, Susan was excellent, so whats the problem, it had me laughing at many turns, it's a comedy it's supposed to make you laugh and entertain not win oscars, i leave the oscars to the movies I generally don't like.

I respect him for saying all that but I disagree with his opinion on the film.

I saw Seann first in The Rundown than in American Pie he was fantastic in both and i LMAO in both. Than i saw him in Stark Raving Mad & Bullerproof Monk, he was awful in both. I really liked his stifler character and he should do it more because he do it best. He should avoid doing serious roles. In the meanwhile i just saw his role models and he is good in it. A nice must see movie for a real Seann fan.
